There needs to be a paradigm shift in our attitudes towards community and the commons — they are the weft and the warp — the foundation on which we can thrive.
It is time to change the narrative on volunteering — to celebrate existing activity whilst finding new ways to engage with anyone who wants to participate. Opportunities abound for the founding of new innovative volunteer projects that address urgent problems.
Although, our primary focus is on the above list of categories, volunteers can volunteer for anything that helps their community.
e.g. Food: According to research by the DA, millions of people are suffering the pain and indignity of hunger. 81% of households are skipping at least one daily meal. 41% say they can’t feed their families anymore. Heartbreaking. We can change this!!!
Our integrated Online and Offline content is designed to cross-pollinate by referencing to each other. Good examples are a QR code and / or a web address printed on / in a magazine, banner, billboard, etc. and the mentioning of offline content in digital media.
Initially, all our focus will be on comprehensive Social Media Campaigns — they are managed by our team of volunteers.
We intend to have many A0, A1 and A2 sized posters of diverse range of volunteer action displayed in public places such as shops.
The hashtag logo on a button badges worn by volunteers everyday syncs the website with the twitter and Facebook pages
We hope that we can get billboard companies to sponsor 1% of their billboard space as part of the ‘1% for SA’ Initiative.
#Volunteer4SA projects will be in the news more and more — because what we are doing is newsworthy.
We will endeavor to get the success of #Volunteer4SA projects into newspapers, magazines and papers.
We Couldn’t Do It Without Them
Our partner organisations offer volunteer opportunities for #Volunteer4SA volunteers and are able to award RE tokens (Sustainability Credits) to RESCUE.exchange members.
